Custom builds: when the standard size does not fit
Most kitchens have one spot where no catalogue size works — an alcove between two pillars, a doorway too narrow for delivery, a counter that should run exactly into the corner of the room. That does not mean rethinking half the project: stainless steel furniture and refrigerated counters can be built to size, and with standard models a small change is often all it takes.
Tell us what does not fit. We will clarify with the manufacturer what can be done — and say so openly when a standard appliance would be cheaper and quicker.
What this usually involves
Stainless steel furniture to size
Work tables, sink units, wall cupboards and understructures built to your dimensions — with or without an upstand, with a base shelf or open, on feet or castors. Usually needed where an alcove, a sloping ceiling or a doorway that is too narrow rules out a standard size.
Refrigerated counters and display cases
Serving counters, refrigerated display cases and beverage counters that fit the room rather than the other way round. Here we work with IDEAL / AKE — more on that below.
Changes to standard models
Often no new design is needed: a different width, extra runners, a changed door hinge, a cut-out for a tap. Send us the link to the item and what needs to differ — we will clarify with the manufacturer what is possible.
Our partner for bespoke refrigerated units
IDEAL / AKE — refrigeration from Austria
Two linked companies stand behind the name: IDEAL Kältetechnik GmbH in Gmunden and its subsidiary AKE Ausseer Kälte- und Edelstahltechnik in Pichl/Kainisch, founded in 1998. Around 185 staff there build refrigeration and heating equipment in stainless steel — predominantly as one-offs to customer dimensions rather than off a production line.
The range covers beverage counters, refrigerated tables and wells, chilled and heated display cases, refrigerated shelving, ice cream cabinets and wine cabinets. Each unit is built in the configuration that suits the room: self-contained or connected to existing central refrigeration, as a countertop, slide-in or drop-in unit, in V4A stainless steel or a RAL colour of your choice on request.
Why we work with these in particular: over 20 years in catering fit-outs, owner Artur Nikolić has specialised in exactly this kind of refrigerated unit — including 2D drawings, costing and complete project engineering. A custom build rarely fails because of the manufacturer; it fails because the requirement was described incompletely. That part is ours.
What we need in order to quote
The more complete these details are, the faster we can give you a price. If something is missing, that is no obstacle — we will work through the points together.
- Overall dimensions in mm — width × depth × height
- For refrigerated units: self-contained or connected to existing central refrigeration
- Installation type — free-standing, countertop, slide-in or drop-in into a worktop
- Which container format has to fit: Gastronorm (GN) or bakery standard (EN 600 × 400)
- Whether the dimensions must be exact or the next standard size will do
- Site conditions: door widths along the delivery route, steps, lift, type of power supply
How it works
You describe the situation
By phone, via the contact form, or simply with a photo of the spot and the measurements. A link to a similar standard model helps us most.
We clarify what is feasible
We check with the manufacturer what can be built — and we will also tell you when a standard appliance would be the better answer.
Drawing and quote
You receive a to-scale drawing and a quote that sets out exactly what is included. Only then do you decide.
Production and delivery
Once you approve, production starts. On request we handle delivery, positioning and commissioning as well.
Tell us what does not fit
A photo of the spot and rough dimensions are enough to start with. We will come back to you with an assessment.
