Freezer Counters for Commercial Kitchens

A freezer counter serves as both a work surface and freezing storage: Under the stainless steel top, the unit maintains between −18 and −22 °C depending on the model, while work continues above. This saves trips to the chest freezer and keeps the cold chain short – a noticeable difference particularly by the fryer and grill.

Doors or Drawers

Doors are more economical and can hold entire boxes. Drawers cost more but save time daily because you can see and grab portioned goods without rearranging the entire stack. Hybrid versions with one door and two drawer rows are also common.

What You Should Check

  • Working height: Standard is around 850 mm with a backsplash. Without a backsplash, the counter fits under continuous worktops.
  • Climate class: In warm kitchens, the compressor must work harder – a unit rated for ambient temperatures up to 43 °C is the safe choice.
  • Defrosting: Automatic defrost with evaporating drip water saves the need for manual emptying.
  • Compressor location: Side-mounted keeps space beneath the counter free; rear-mounted results in a more compact unit.

For cooling temperatures instead of freezing, see the suitable units under refrigerated counters; the differences in design types are explained in the guide Buying Refrigerated Counters. Expert advice: +49 6724 2069393.
